LIMITED WARRANTY STATEMENT

The Gabriel brand and all of its registered trademarks, is wholly owned and distributed by Auto World South Africa (Pty) Ltd.

When it comes to performance and durability, Gabriel products, are subject to the highest quality and safety standards. As a valued customer, you can always rely on Gabriel quality, backed by a limited warranty promise of reliability and dependability. Gabriel (through Auto World South Africa (Pty) Ltd) warrants its products to be free from defects in material, function, quality, performance, and durability. Gabriel SA products are warranted to the original wholesale or retail purchaser only.

All consumer warranty claims must be directed to and via the place of purchase accompanied by the minimum required Warranty Claim Information.

  • This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties and representations expressed or implied.
  • Gabriel warrants that all products supplied to its customers comply with the relevant industry quality standards. The Gabriel warranty is in accordance to the following schedule, subject to the specific restrictions and or warranty limitations as detailed below.
  • Gabriel products are developed according to original suspension specifications from vehicle manufacturers as listed in the Gabriel catalogue.
  • Gabriel products correspond with their specification at the time of delivery and will be free from defects in material and workmanship for the duration of the applicable warranty period.
  • The warranty states that Gabriel products will perform as designed under the normal usage of the vehicle excluding normal wear.
  • The warranty period starts from the date of installation.

EXCLUSIONS FROM WARRANTY

Gabriel will accept no liability in respect of any defect arising from:

  • negligent or incorrect installation
  • unfair wear and tear
  • wilful damage or carelessness
  • abnormal driving environments
  • misuse including motorsports and extreme off-road use
  • product alteration or modifications
  • modified suspension systems, including raised or lowered for which the shock absorber was not designed
  • Failure due to the re-use of bump rubbers (Part No. 143057) or the re-use of the original OE bump rubbers. (also void if bump rubbers are not used)
  • failure to fit to the correct vehicle as determined by the Gabriel catalogue

GENERAL CONDITIONS, RESTRICTIONS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Gabriel warranty will be restricted to the replacement of the product originally supplied
  • The replacement product will be similarly warranted but only for the balance of the duration of the original warranty
  • Gabriel will not be liable for any consequential loss or damage, whatever the cause arising, including loss of any labour or fitment costs.
  • From time to time, Gabriel may run promotions or programs that strengthen the standard Gabriel Warranty. In All circumstances, Gabriel will clearly state any changes to the original warranty in all of its communications. If a warranty is requested under the provisions of one of these programs or promotions, Gabriel will always ensure that it is processed in line with the specific terms and conditions stated.
  • The buyer of the product must make use of Gabriel returns policy and claims procedure, available directly from the company or any of its representatives.
  • Except to the extent impermissible in terms of the CPA, no warranty claims will be approved by Gabriel unless this returns policy and claim procedures is followed.
  • Notwithstanding the returns policy but subject to the CPA, Gabriel reserves the right to at any stage reject the return of goods, should it feel that the goods have been abused or that the goods have deteriorated through excessive use within the warranty period. Gabriel shall then have the option to return the rejected goods to the buyer.
  • Gabriel shall not be liable for damages resulting from delays in shipments or inability to ship due to normal production or delays resulting from acts of God, fires, floods, wars, sabotage, accidents, labour disputes or shortages, plant shutdown or equipment failure, voluntary or involuntary compliances with any law, order, rule or regulation of governmental agency or authority, inability to obtain material (including power and fuel), equipment or transportation, or arising from any other contingency, circumstances or event beyond the control of Gabriel.
  • This warranty only applies when proof of purchase can be verified. A copy of the customer’s original purchase invoice is required for all warranty claims. The customer’s details should be provided with the claim.

EXCLUSION OF WARRANTY

  • Gabriel shock absorbers used on vehicles applications or fitted to applications contrary to what is listed in the catalogue.
  • Gabriel shock absorbers used on modified suspension that are no longer to the manufacturer’s specification.
  • Gabriel shock absorbers fitted to sports suspension, lowered suspension or use for which the shock absorber was not designed.
  • Gabriel shock absorbers that have been damaged due to incorrect or negligent installation.
  • Gabriel shock absorbers that have failed due to the re-use of bump rubbers (Part No. 143057) or the re-use of the original OE bump rubbers. The warranty will also be void if bump rubbers are not used.

CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT WARRANTIES (applicable to South Africa only)

  • In terms of the Consumer Protection Act No. 68 of 2008 (CPA), in the event that a product supplied by Gabriel is unsuitable for its intended purpose, of poor quality, not in a good working order, defective, sub-standard or wears out before the reasonable service life of the product and the product is returned to Gabriel within six months after delivery of the product to the buyer,
  • Gabriel will replace the product under the normal warranty as above stated.
  • Gabriel will have the right not to provide the remedies set out above to the extent that the CPA does not oblige Gabriel to do so in the circumstances of a particular case.

WARRANTY SCHEDULE ON GABRIEL SHOCK ABSORBERS & GAS SPRINGS

PROCESSING WARRANTIES

  1. To assist in the quick processing of claims, it is important to have the following information.
  2. The vehicle make, model and year that the part was fitted to.
  3. The claimed product part number
  4. The claimed manufacturing date code (required unless the product is still fitted)
  5. The original or copy invoice with date of issue and invoice number
  6. The type of fault or customer compliant (this relates to the documented fault codes presented in the below schedule of common faults)
  7. The motorists name and phone number (optional)
  8. Your regional Representative will ask you the questions stated in clause 1 above and should the answers fall in line with our warranty policy and satisfy the investigating Gabriel representative, a RMA claim number will be issued.
  9. It is this number that is to be recorded along with your request for credit documentation (RFC). We advise that this RMA number is physically written on the product with either a Black or White paint pen prior to returning the product.
  10. Gabriel can allow you the option to submit your requests for credit with your supplier, however there are no guarantees that the claim will be honoured, as this is based on the decision of an inspection by the Gabriel Representative.
  11. In line with its Warranty Statement, Gabriel honours all of its product from any store that a warranty is claimed from, irrespective of where the customer initially purchased the product from. If you are not the original seller, it is still your responsibility to validate if a customer has a valid claim and to process the claim in line with this procedure.
  12. We so advise that you make a copy of the claimed invoice for your records.
