Technical leadership

Our state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Cape Town houses its own research and engineering facilities. Prototypes are assembled, tested and re-tested here by qualified engineers under laboratory as well as actual operating conditions.

Gabriel South Africa also launched a state-of-the-art call centre (0861 GABRIEL or 0861 422 7435) for Gabriel’s retail partners, providing a swift paper-free warranty claim process and a streamlined process for logging stock shortages and receiving an immediate response.

Global expertise, local support

Gabriel South Africa has access to additional expertise around the world, wherever Gabriel’s state-of-the-art facilities are located. Locally, Gabriel designs and manufactures its own products, adapting and pioneering innovations specifically for South African road conditions.

Gabriel South Africa has made its own contributions to Gabriel’s innovative history, most famously with the design and manufacture of the first ever “gas spring”, named the Gabriel Gas Lift, in 1984. First widely used on the doors of hatch back vehicles, the Gabriel Gas Lift is now used for hundreds of different applications in many different industries around the world – aviation, agriculture, medical, marine and furniture – and new applications are still found each year.

Widest range

Gabriel’s Cape Town based manufacturing plant produces shock absorbers, MacPherson struts and strut cartridges (pressurized and non-pressurized designs) for most popular vehicle makes.

There are more than 1400 applications in the Gabriel range, including recent innovations such as the MaxControl line of monotube shock absorbers for light trucks and SUVs, G-Force technology for ultimate control, performance and safety, and ReadyMount, a preassembled strut that can be easily installed.

Gabriel is the preferred produced used by most fitment groups and is widely available through most aftermarket outlets.
